We've been lucky enough to be introduced to and work with YoMagination Wellness & Education®, a wonderful client that has produced a completely amazing program called Kids YoPoweR!. It teaches children to develop a positive sense of personal wellness, self expression and empowerment through yoga poses, memorable characters, healthy eating, playing and positive thinking!
The program uses locations on The Island of YoMagination to teach life lessons and relaxation techniques to be used for real life situations that can cause anxiety, such as meeting new people and trying new things.
We're currently creating an iPad app for them to introduce the Kids YoPoweR! program, to be released in August. It's going to be a very soothing, visual introduction to The Island of YoMagination and a few of it's inhabitants. Want to know what "Tiggily Wiggilys" and "Oogily Boogilys" are? Check back soon for a sneak peek, before the app is released!
Robots and Cupcakes presenting at AEP
It it with great honor (and extreme excitement!) to announce that Robots and Cupcakes has been asked to present alongside SMART Technologies in June at the Association of Educational Publishers Content in Context Conference in Washington D.C.!
We will be doing a 20-minute presentation of our work on June 7th, talking about converting printed content to digital (particularly to the interactive white board and table), and answering questions.
This coincidentally helped us get in for the entire 3-day conference, something our little company hasn't had the chance to do yet! We're looking forward to meeting all of you and checking out the latest products!

A few more items in the queue:
- A printed book of our original story, "The Mixed-Up Wacky Zoo", to be available on LuLu.com (and possibly Amazon). I'll post a link to that/those as soon it's/they're ready!
- A wonderful interactive photo and video storybook for iPad – but first, the client will be raising money for it on kickstarter.com. I'll post a link as soon as that's up, too!
- A few apps for the Android platform!
- A gallery show at Northern Ohio University in late March by Phil Jones, talented illustrator of our "Zoo" app. He'll be showcasing the story as well as his own amazing art!
Keep close for updates...
Busy, busy!
Wow! We've definitely started off 2011 right! While we're engulfed in print and digital work, we've completed a good handful of quotes for more mobile work; a very good sign for the future. We're also in the middle of getting The Mixed-Up Wacky Zoo in print form. (It's going to be beautiful!)
We're also very, very excited about the success many schools are having while testing with iPads. It's been going on for the last two months, and they're having amazing results! I read today that the Georgia State Senate is considering moving all schools in this direction. This is awesome news for us, because we're completely set and ready to move along with it! Here's a link to the article.
We really hope this continues everywhere- there's nothing more satisfying than taking print and moving it into digital form! It's an art form in a way– a very thoughtful, exciting process that we've been working with for a year now.
Speaking of: It's almost Robots and Cupcakes' one year anniversary! Even though all of us have been in this field for most of our life employment, coming together in one place and growing in whatever personal direction we choose has worked out beautifully. And this is only the first year! Some of our production people are also stop-motion animators, After Effects wizards, Flash animators– we even have a professional traditional animator on our team. I'd love to put all of that to good use in the upcoming year!
We hope you all are doing well, and having a successful 2011 yourself!

The Mixed-Up Wacky Zoo is available in iTunes!
Apple is all fired up for the new year! After submitting our first storybook for the iPad only 5 days ago, it has already been reviewed and is now available in the iTunes store!
Check it out here!
It came out so soon, we didn't even have enough time to complete a introductory video! We'll have that available very soon.
The Mixed-Up Wacky Zoo is an interactive story for kids 3 and up. Rob Spence wrote the story, which is about a boy who witnesses a crazy parade of animals out of nowhere! Each page refers to what the group of animals is called (a tower of giraffes, a pod of whales, a bloat of hippos), with fun, colorful descriptions of all the eccentric characters. Fun for kids and adults!
The art is traditionally drawn (by Phil Jones), and the music was specifically written for this story (by Rick Hinkle). As you flip through each page, touching the characters brings them to life as they animate and let out their own funny sounds. There's also a lot of humor in there for parents as well, as you'll find a few references from back when you were young. =)
We hope you enjoy! This is our first story out of many coming down the line. We're experimenting with all sort of styles, options and music, to offer whimsical, creative visuals and stimulating reading. We can't wait to show you more!
